The increased availability of low cost Single Board Computers (SBC) has made some technical solutions easier and quicker to implement. Whereas, in times past, a bespoke fullscale embedded system development may have been necessary, it is now often possible to develop a system based on an SBC running a mini OS. This often makes sense for low volume applications.
One such SBC is the well-known Raspberry Pi. mSemicon has developed several products based on this platform, and indeed has developed complementary PCBs, such as stepper motor driver boards and multichannel RS-485 interfaces, that have expanded their reach.
mSemicon has no hesitation to recommend an SBC based solution where appropriate.
